Aside from the founder (who tutors HSC and IB Chemistry Physics Mathematics Statistics and Biology. Recruitment of tutors involves the following rigorous recruitment process:
We strive to keep our recruitment process transparent and to clearly outline the criteria that all tutors need to meet.

To be considered, potential tutors must meet the following minimum requirements: 

Preference is for a student enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in a ‘Group of 8 University’ and ideally to those possessing a teaching qualification.  

Pursuing a relevant degree 

Attained at least a GPA of 5.00 in their degree (Distinction or above MSc Level). 

Achieved a higher grade level than the one they aim to tutor (e.g., achieving an ‘A’ in first-year university Chemistry to tutor IB Chemistry) 

Prior tutoring experience or relevant expertise 

Application Process: 

A detailed cover letter reviewed against exemplary previous applications. 

A 1–2-page CV assessed against exemplary previous applications. 

A comprehensive transcript displaying all university grades. 

All school exam results. 

Applicants reaching the interview stage undergo a 45–60-minute evaluation. They are scored out of 20 based on: 

Proficiency in the subject matter (evaluated through relevant exams) 

Communication skills (discussion about CV/Cover Letter, teaching techniques, etc.) 

Overall application quality (Experience, academic performance, etc.) 

Before tutoring, tutors must provide additional documents: 

Evidence of all exam results 

Disclosure of WWVC Membership 

Relevant personal details 

2 references: academic and employer (if possible)

Tutoring Experience
My tutoring experience began a couple of years ago in high school, where I dedicated a couple of lunchtimes weekly to voluntarily tutor topics in Mathematics and English that my peers were struggling with. Here, I tutored individuals and small groups, which demonstrated the many different ways in which people learn. I learned to adapt my tutoring style to fit each individual. Since starting university and after I completed my HSC exams, I have begun tutoring with Tutorio Tutoring, teaching students from 12 to 16 years old and providing guidance throughout exam periods. I enjoy working with students and, together, figuring out which methods and approaches work best to improve their confidence and skills.

Tutoring Approach
Every individual learns at a different pace and in a different way. My tutoring approach is therefore adaptable to everyone I teach. I begin by teaching a key concept – through definitions, examples and exam questions, and then I work alongside the student to solve similar problems and have confidence to answer such questions on their own. I do this by teaching them multiple methods until we find a way that works perfectly for them. I encourage my students to ask questions at every stage, since it is key that they understand the building blocks of a maths problem before understanding the problem itself. Whilst most students are happy with one lesson a week, I encourage them to send me any problems they need help with in between lessons, and if they want more frequent lessons then I am more than happy to provide that too.

My tutoring approach is one of intuitive thinking, and a “connecting the dots” style of teaching, to ensure that concepts are understood thoroughly, yet simply, as this tends to mean that the skill taught will not be lost to memory, as is common in rigorous memorising styles of teaching. Although this can be considered a free-thinking model of learning, I also like to ensure that students are completing work efficiently and correctly, and this certainly approaches disciplined and personalised learning. Students will learn through different mediums and at different paces, and it is extremely important to tend to the  individual’s learning style.
