A highly sought after tutor. With a proven record of success, he has built a reputation as one of the most trusted tutors in the country. Moreover, his dedication to delivering engaging and student-centred lessons sets him apart from others. Our founder is a proud Scottish-Australian who benefited from a fusion of the best elements of both countries’ education systems. After obtaining degrees in Chemistry & Biochemistry from Universities in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and completing post-doctoral studies at the prestigious McGill University in Montreal, the founder firmly believes that every child deserves access to high-quality education, regardless of where they come from or their background. Driven by the Scottish principles of fairness, equality, and excellence, the founder established Tutorio to level the playing field for rurally based students who are often left behind and deprived of opportunities that are available in metropolitan areas.
As a retired teacher with over thirty years experience, and as a mother of two daughters and Nana of five grandchildren, I love to use my teaching skills to support children on their school journey.
Supporting those who struggle with their school learning and also helping very able students to extend their learning is a joy and a privilege.
It is good to work one on one with children and identify areas where most help is needed. It is good to pace the work and content for each individual child so that they achieve a f**irm understanding and foundation on which to build their future learning.
I love to see children flourish and come to enjoy their learning experience. It is good to help to turn a reluctant learner into a confident learner who is then able to realise their full potential.
I’m a Physics tutor currently in my second year of studying Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at UNSW. Having completed Year 12 myself, I understand the challenges senior students face and aim to offer helpful, relatable guidance, especially when it comes to Physics. Physics and Engineering have always been passions of mine, and I believe they’re best understood through real-world context, not just textbook definitions.
My teaching focuses on helping students build strong conceptual foundations before moving into the maths and problem-solving side. This approach encourages deeper, more flexible understanding so students can confidently tackle a wider variety of questions.

I am in my first year at Sydney University studying a double degree in Mechatronic Engineering and Commerce at Sydney University. I graduated from Sydney Grammar School in 2024 with an ATAR of 99.55. Having achieved all band 6’s in a diverse range of subjects, I recognised the way I learned and can ably apply this to adapt and improve different ways in which others learn. I believe tutoring is an extremely beneficial resource to provide another perspective on subject content, to offer more individualised teaching to students, and to help individuals gain greater confidence in their abilities. I am dedicated to creating an environment for every student that means they can learn in a way that works for them, and with a couple of years of tutoring experience, I have a wide range of resources to provide students with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.
Tutoring Experience
My tutoring experience began a couple of years ago in high school, where I dedicated a couple of lunchtimes weekly to voluntarily tutor topics in Mathematics and English that my peers were struggling with. Here, I tutored individuals and small groups, which demonstrated the many different ways in which people learn. I learned to adapt my tutoring style to fit each individual. Since starting university and after I completed my HSC exams, I have begun tutoring with Tutorio Tutoring, teaching students from 12 to 16 years old and providing guidance throughout exam periods. I enjoy working with students and, together, figuring out which methods and approaches work best to improve their confidence and skills.
Tutoring Approach
Every individual learns at a different pace and in a different way. My tutoring approach is therefore adaptable to everyone I teach. I begin by teaching a key concept – through definitions, examples and exam questions, and then I work alongside the student to solve similar problems and have confidence to answer such questions on their own. I do this by teaching them multiple methods until we find a way that works perfectly for them. I encourage my students to ask questions at every stage, since it is key that they understand the building blocks of a maths problem before understanding the problem itself. Whilst most students are happy with one lesson a week, I encourage them to send me any problems they need help with in between lessons, and if they want more frequent lessons then I am more than happy to provide that too.
Hi! I’m Hugo and I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve their best in English, Maths, and Biology. Having recently completed my HSC at Sydney Grammar School with an ATAR of 99.60, I understand the challenges of senior study and how to approach them effectively. I’m now studying a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney as a Dalyell Scholar and St John’s College Academic Scholar.
Tutoring Experience
I have experience as a tutor and have seen my students improve results drastically since beginning with them. In English, I focus on helping students refine their essay structure, strengthen analysis, and develop clear, compelling arguments. Whether it’s tackling 1984, Sylvia Plath or unseen texts, I offer practical strategies to improve writing and exam performance. For Biology, I break down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand explanations, with a strong focus on applying knowledge to source-based questions. And for maths, I attack the weaknesses of my students to build a strong foundation to have success when they face more difficult questions.
Tutoring Approach
I believe in a supportive and engaging approach, tailoring each lesson to a student’s unique needs. Whether you’re looking to refine essays, boost confidence in short-answer responses, or master exam strategies, I’m here to help. My goal is to make learning both effective and enjoyable so you can walk into your exams feeling prepared and capable.
I am an enthusiastic Math, English, Science, and music tutor. I studied at Sydney Grammar School from Transition to Year 10 (awarded multiple scholarships including a full high school scholarship). I studied violin at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from the age of 6 to 15. I moved to Switzerland to study violin under the Concertmaster of St. Gallen Symphony whilst studying for British A-levels at the Institut auf dem Rosenberg. I completed my British A-levels at Ashbourne College (Oxbridge programme) on a part scholarship in London. I commenced study of medicine in the UK and continued for two years. I have recently moved to Australia to continue my STEM education close to family/home. I play violin, piano, and am a trained tenor.
Tutoring Experience
I have a long history of academic mentorship, including teaching violin and piano for three years. I have also tutored various subjects including maths, science and english. I enjoy the teaching model of studying, and engaging in tutoring at all levels of schooling as well as university means that I am revising and learning alongside my students as well.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach is one of intuitive thinking, and a “connecting the dots” style of teaching, to ensure that concepts are understood thoroughly, yet simply, as this tends to mean that the skill taught will not be lost to memory, as is common in rigorous memorising styles of teaching. Although this can be considered a free-thinking model of learning, I also like to ensure that students are completing work efficiently and correctly, and this certainly approaches disciplined and personalised learning. Students will learn through different mediums and at different paces, and it is extremely important to tend to the individual’s learning style. This makes certain that the student is comfortable, as well as the tutor being increasingly able to implement specific styles of teaching suited to the student.
Having gained a B Ed from the University of London I taught in Primary Schools in England and International Schools in Hong Kong.
I began tutoring international students in Hong Kong and since arriving in Sydney in 2000 I have enjoyed tutoring many wonderful Primary School children and, lately, also tutoring Year 7 and 8 students.
As a retired teacher with over thirty years experience, and as a mother of two daughters and Nana of five grandchildren, I love to use my teaching skills to support children on their school journey.

Tutoring Experience
During my first year of university, I supported several friends who hadn’t studied Physics in high school and were finding their university coursework challenging as a result. Through weekly lessons, I broke down key concepts and explained them in a clear, approachable way. This helped them build the foundational understanding they needed, and it was incredibly rewarding to see their confidence grow and their results improve significantly.
Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach is centred around the student. I believe it’s essential for students to fully grasp core concepts before moving on to problem-solving. Since every student learns differently, I focus on helping them develop a personal understanding of Physics in a way that makes sense to them. Whether through analogies, visual explanations, or adapting to their unique learning style, I tailor each lesson to ensure it resonates and builds lasting confidence.I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. Ultimately, my goal is to help students build a clear understanding of Physics and excel in their HSC studies.
